Commemorative water
for Stonewall 25
In a world of brand names and designer fads, one California company has discovered a way to make every name, event or organization a "brand" name using something as simple as spring water. Stonewall 25 is the latest organization to have its own "brand" of spring water.
Private Label Water Corp. (PLWC) of San Mateo, California, is the brainchild of entrepreneur Luins H. Williams, Jr., an African-American businessman. Williams thought of the idea while at a Giants' game at Candlestick Park in San Francisco. While holding a bottle of a "brand name" spring water, Williams was struck with the idea that the label on the bottle was prime advertising for the San Francisco Giants. From a sunny day in Candlestick Park sprung an idea as basic and American as baseball and apple pie into a company which has virtually grown overnight.
PLWC's product is a 16.9 ounce bottle of spring water with a personalized label and sports cap. The cap and sturdy polypropeline construction make the bottles reusable, which in essence become walking billboards for the sponsor.
To date, PLWC has produced personalized spring water for the Gap, Old Navy Clothing Co., Stanford University, Pacific Bell, to name just a few. PLWC is especially proud of having been selected the official water of Stonewall 25.
At a time when quality is more and more difficult to find, PLWC strives to maintain strict quality standards. From its standards
in requiring that only ozonation be used in the spring water sterilization process, to throwing an occasional "labeling party" where staff members of all levels hand apply labels to the bottles in order to meet deadlines, PLWC's unofficial motto is "whatever it takes." This motto will surely put PLWC's name on the map as it affixes someone else's name on its spring water.
If your company would like to carry Stonewall 25 water you can contact Maceo Campbell at PLWC, 415-572-1935.
Private Label Water Corp will donate 10 percent of any sales to Stonewall 25. For additional official Stonewall 25 merchandise such as t-shirts, caps, pins, etc., call 800-IS-PROUD.
Party before the Games
Revved-up Cleveland show producer Michael Gilberto and his G-Man Productions are set to unleash a party for the benefit of Ohio Gay Games athletes. Gilberto promises a night of non-stop, pumping adrenaline as queer athletes from Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton and Cleveland converge on U4ia nightclub May 29.
Lots of hot music and visuals will be the main course at this Rave feast. New York deejay Troy Parrish, Cleveland favorite Tim Richardson and his protegee Mike Metz will unleash an all-night torrent of sweaty sound. New York photographer Steve Vaccariello, whom Gilberto calls a "young Herb Ritts," will set a backdrop of his homostyled sports photos. Your visual taste buds will be further tempted with go-go boys and girls and posing bodybuilders.
You won't go hungry for food or free giveaways either. Out magazine will provide free magazines and cd's to feed your
baser needs. For your palette's nourishment, sample the food by Cafe Sausalito, Players Pasta and Pizza, The Ridge and Pasta Port.
Gilberto says this will be the only time to catch all Ohio lesbian and gay athletes in one place at one time before the Games. Team Cleveland's Women's Softball Team will be there in uniform, along with an impressive line-up of athletes from Dayton and Cincinnati. For those into uniform drag, show up in athletic uniform before 10:30 pm and your admission is free.
For Gilberto, a veteran of many club experiences, this show is a chance to do more than party. "It'll be a little fun, a little sexy. But it's a good opportunity to support good role models. It's going to be a positive, uplifting night."
Anyone interested in housing out-of-town athletes should call Mike G. at 391-2345.✈
